Matiari, October 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): A high level meeting to review the arrangements for 274th annual Urs of great Sufi saint and poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was held at Rest House Bhit Shah. Meeting decided to have comprehensive and fool proof security plan for safety of shrine as well as devotees besides providing them all basic facilities during three day annual Urs Celebrations. Later in the evening Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Sardar Ali Shah visited shrine, laid the floral wrath, offered fateha, met with Syed Waqar Hussain Shah Latifi and discussed with him arrangements to celebrate the annual event in befitting manner.
Talking to media, Minister Culture said that Shah Latif was creator of concept of nation and home land and without Shah Bhittai and Moen Jo Daro the history, civilization and culture is incomplete. To a question, he said foreign scholars who have made research on Shah Latif would be invited to present their research papers on Shah Bhittai, adding that last year foreign scholars could not arrive due to Visa problems and security concerns. He also said that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has assured to attend the annual Urs Celebrations this year.
Earlier addressing the meeting Deputy Commissioner Matiari stressed all lined department for making coordinated efforts to provide maximum facilities to the thousands of devotees so that they could not face any difficulty adding that no lethargy and negligence on part of any department would be tolerated. The meeting was attended among others by Sajjada Nasheen Syed Waqar Hussain Shah Latifi, Pir Nazin Sain, SSP Matiari Syed Imdad Ali Shah, Director Culture Abdul Aleem Lashari, Assistant Commissioner Matiari Imaam Bux Kaka, AC Hala Shabir Jan Jaskani, Assistant Director Culture Sher Mohammad Mahar and DHO Dr Muhammad Memon.
Parvez Ahmad Baloch said that keeping in mind the prevailing circumstances our focus will be on security and maintenance of law and order for which adequate arrangements would be made, all-inclusive contingency plan has been prepared by police department, intelligence net work will be on high alert so to avoid any untoward incident. He directed all the local government and Public Health Department officers to extend assistance to town administration Bhit Shah for proper cleanliness, sanitation, provision of safe drinking water, beautification and adequate lighting arrangements in town.
He also asked the officials of Auqaf departments to complete the renovation work of the shrine within shortest possible time. He hoped that this year arrangements for annual Urs will be far better as we have learnt through the experience of previous year; mistakes and loopholes of last year won’t be repeated. Sajjada Nasheen Syed Waqar Hussain Shah Latifee said that after the tragic incident of Sehwan Sharif Security at shrine has been increased but still there is a lot of room to improve it.
He said that around 150 Sajjada Nasheens of various Sufi shrines of country also arrive to pay their homage to Shah Sain, there is need to make proper security arrangements for them as well. He also stressed for provision of maximum facilities and security for hundreds of thousands of devotees who throng Bhit Shah to pay respects to their spiritual leader. SSP Matiari informed the meeting that two thousand police personnel would be deployed along with 100 personnel of Rangers comprising 10 mobiles besides installation of 14 walk through gates at the shrine.
He added that each person entering Dargah and other large gatherings would go through body search for which female personnel would also be deployed. SSP Matiari further said that aerial surveillance of security would be carried out through drone cameras adding that no any media person would be allowed to use drone camera except police department.
Director Culture Abdul Aleem Lashari informed the meeting that a new statue of Shah Latif Bhittai is ready to be installed in the Kararr Lake and eight new published books by culture department would be launched and stage drama depicting any one Surmi (Heroine) of Shah Latif would also be presented. Latif literary Conference, Sugharn Ji Katchehry, Cultural village, Malakhro and Latif Raag Rehan (Sufi Musical Night) will be other main programs of the annual Urs.
