Ambassador of Norway Calls on National Assembly Deputy Speaker

Islamabad: Deputy Speaker, Faisal Karim Kundi has said that Pakistan values high its relation with Norway and wanted to further strengthening the existing relations through enhanced parliamentary and economic cooperation. He said this while talking to Ambassador of Norway Ms. Cecilie Landsverk who called upon him in Parliament House, today.

The Deputy Speaker said that Pakistan suffered a lot due to activities of miscreants involved in terrorism. He said that illiteracy, unemployment and poverty were the major causes of extremism and terrorism. He said that it was imperative to address these problems to curb the menace of terrorism from the region.

Faisal Karim Kundi said that there were a lot of opportunities for investment in various sectors of economy in Pakistan. He asked the Ambassador to persuade Norwegian investors to invest in Pakistan to seize the immense economic potential.

He also appreciated the performance of the Telenor Company in Pakistan. He also stressed upon the need to enhance the cooperation between the two countries in energy, infrastructure, fisheries and communication sectors for mutual benefit of both countries.

Ambassador of Norway Ms. Cecilie Landsverk assured the Deputy Speaker about Norway’s support in strengthening the democratic institution in Pakistan. She appreciated Deputy Speaker’s role in conducting proceedings of the House.

She stressed the need for exchange of parliamentary delegation between the two countries. She said that enhanced interaction between parliamentarian will further cement the relation between the two countries. She said that Norway value high its relation with Pakistan and wanted to further strengthen existing relation. She also appreciated role played of Pakistan in war against terrorism.
