All encroachments removed from one side of Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road

Karachi, March 16, 2016 (PPI-OT):Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) officials removed all encroachments from one side of M.A. Jinnah Road on Wednesday. The action was taken on the special directives from Administrator Karachi Roshan Ali Sheikh to initiate anti-encroachment drive and beautify roads with plantation from MA Jinnah Road via University Road to Safoora Chowrangi.

According to details, on the first day of the drive, the anti-encroachment staff removed almost all encroachments from one side of MA Jinnah Road i.e. from People’s Chowrangi to Nipa Chowrangi. The anti-encroachment drive will be continued for a week. The footpaths and sites were illegally encroached by small cabins, pushcarts, cattle pens, stands and stalls that were successfully removed with the help of loaders, dumpers and heavy machineries as traffic jams have become order of the day.

On the other hand, Senior Director Anti-Encroachments Bilal Manzar said that same action was also continued in different parts of the city on the directives of Karachi Administrator. He further added that they were effectively dealing with encroachment mafia to vacate the sites and footpaths so that the city could be cleansed and smooth flow of traffic could be ensured.

Meanwhile, KMC sought help from the public and private institutes along University Road and asked them to cooperate with KMC to beautify their vicinities with plantation. In this connection, Commissioner Karachi Samiuddin Siddiqui on Wednesday conducted a meeting with officials and representatives from public and private sector at his office.

The delegation comprised NED University of Engineering and Technology’s Registrar Ghazanfar Hussain, Sheikh Zaid Islamic Centre’s Secretary Sheikh Adnan Ahmed, Admin Officer Ameenuddin Siddiqui and KMC’s officials. In the meeting, delegation assured Siddiqui of its full cooperation with KMC in plantation campaign.
