Karachi, February 12, 2014 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has suspended all staff including Project Director and XEN of Teen Hatti Flyover and directed to deploy new project director and complete this flyover till 28th February.
According to details Administrator Karachi while visiting sites of ongoing development works in the city arrived at the site of Teen Hattti Flyover where absence of Project Director, all Engineers and staff was observed on which he expressed displeasure and directed Director General Engineering Department Niaz Ahmed Soomro that Project Director Burhan Shahid, XEN Ishrat Rehan and other staff should be suspended immediately.
Administrator Karachi said that this flyover has to be completed till 28th February however pace of its construction work was very slow and work was not being done properly.
He said this flyover was a part of the project for making Shahrah-e-Pakistan signal free and if it did not complete on time, Shahrah-e-Pakistan would not be made signal free therefore arrangements should be made to complete this flyover as soon as possible. He directed Director General to increase the number of workers so that the project should be completed on time.
Administrator Karachi said that all 20 girders have been kept and desk slab work along with installation of barriers on both sides has also been completed and rest of barriers and desk slab works were underway however works should not be delayed now and it should be completed as soon as possible so that citizens could be facilitated.
He said that both tracks of Teen Hatti Flyover have 7.2meter width and 500meter length and cost of this flyover was Rs 17 crore and 59 Lakh. As the flyover completed, development works beneath the flyover would be carried out.
Administrator Karachi said that Traffic of Shahrah-e-Pakistan would have facility after completion of this corridor however removal of encroachments from this area was necessary for which directives have been issued to Anti-Encroachment Department.
He said that effective strategy with the collaboration of relevant departments would be adopted in this regard. Citizens had to face inconvenience during construction of flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan however it could not be delayed more and disciplinary action would be taken against the officers and employees who would not perform their responsibilities properly.
He said this corridor would complete after completion of Teen Hatti Flyover and if pace of works remained slow, it could not be completed till 28th February therefore such engineers should be deployed who could complete this flyover with sincerity and dedication.
