The Functional Urology is a part of urological practice which deals with functional disorders of the lower urinary tract. Among the diseases that may cause functional disorders are spina bifida, spinal cord injury, pelvic organ prolapse, and urethral strictures. Practical functional urology will help urologists, gynaecologists, and surgeons to diagnose and treat functional disorders which were previously less understood, including overactive bladder, detrusor under activity, painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis, prostatitis, stress urinary incontinence, including urinary tract infections, and urethral disorders.
Vesico vaginal fistula (VVF) is still highly prevalent in female population of Pakistan due to non-availability of obstetrical care particularly in rural areas of the country. VVF can affect the storage function and greatly affects quality of life causing a social stigma due to continuous soiling of clothes by continuous seepage of urine not only creating hygienic issues but a social embarrassment as well leading most of them detached from the society in general. This workshop will increase the understanding of this complex problem and will greatly help the treatments of such patients, some of whom really live in miserable and abandoned conditions in the society. Over two hundred participants will attend this workshop.
