A delegation of Sindh Madressatul Islam University led by its Vice Chancellor calls on Chief Secretary Sindh

Karachi, April 19, 2015 (PPI-OT): A delegation of SMIU led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh and comprising principal officers i.e. Director of Finance Mr. Ghulam Ali Surhaio, Registrar Mr. Gulzar Ahmed Mughal and Director Human Resources Management Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Abro called on the Chief Secretary Sindh Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon on Friday 17th April, 2015 in the Chief Secretary’s Office.

The Vice Chancellor briefed the Chief Secretary regarding the progress made by the institution during the last three years after grant of university charter in 2012. Dr. Shaikh apprised the Chief Secretary that SMIU, as a newly established University, has already made its place in the top most universities in the country.

He said SMIU has initially established five departments i.e. Media Studies, Computer Science, Business Administration, environmental science and education. “The graduating students of these department are very much in demand in the market due to university’s top quality educational standards”. Dr. Shaikh told Mr. Memon.

The Vice Chancellor also apprised the Chief Secretary that in accordance with the historical traditions of the institution, SMIU was also running its Model School where “O” and “A” level system of education, in addition to traditional matriculation system was being imparted by competent faculty selected purely on merit basis.

Dr. Shaikh also apprised the Chief Secretary of the financial constraints being faced by SMIU I in view of the meager releases by Higher Education Commission (HEC) as well as Government of Sindh. He requested him to help provide special grant for maintaining top most educational standards at SMIU.

On that occasion, the Vice Chancellor presented the Chief Secretary his book titled: Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Education, struggle and Achievement” which has recently won the best book award in the category of books of Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal and Pakistan Movement by the National Book Foundation under Government of Pakistan. The Chief Secretary assured the Vice Chancellor to play his due role resolution of all the issues being faced by the alma-mater of the Founder of Pakistan including its financial constraints.
