Karachi, July 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Five days Training on Conformity Assessment – Requirements for the operation of various type of bodies performing inspection in accordance with ISO/IEC 17020:2012 organized by Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) with the collaboration of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) which was held at Sheraton Hotel, Karachi.
The purpose of the five day training is to give updated knowledge and awareness on ISO/IEC 17020:2012 for Conformity Assessment and its compliance against the requirements mentioned in the said International Standard.
This training provided the requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection and impartiality and consistency of their inspection activities for certification process and documentation which applies to Inspection Bodies of Type A, B or C as mentioned in the referred standard and it applies to any stage of inspection. In the training, Mr. Atiq-ur-Rehman and Mr. Azhar Hussain was the tutors.
They trained that how to operate the various types of bodies to perform the inspection for Conformity Assessment as per ISO/IEC. In the concluding training, the Director General, PNAC addressed that I am happy to know that participants have taken keen interest in the course and held through discussions during the training.
He said that the Inspection Bodies results can have important consequence for buyer and supplier alike, be it pre-shipment Inspection or post-shipment Inspection. Hence, the Government and regulators want to be confident that Inspection Bodies, especially those inspecting health and safety and customer protection issues are competent to do so.
These efforts will ultimately bring improvement in the quality of our goods and services and the participants of this training course will be a source of great help to their parent organization in the development of their respective quality system.
He further said that this is the only way to support our industrial and services sector to enable them to face the challenges of the world trade markets to meet WTO regime requirements for International trade. These efforts will contribute significantly towards enhancing exports and socio-economic development and environment protection..
