12 people record statements in IHK youth killing case

Srinagar, March 21, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a dozen people have recorded their statements before the enquiry officer probing the recent killing of a youth, Tahir Ahmad Sofi by Indian troops.

27-year-old Tahir Ahmad Sofi of Ganai Hamam was killed while Mohammad Abbas Lallu sustained injuries when Indian troops of 46 Rashtriya Rifles fired upon a group of protesters near the old town Baramulla on March 5.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Baramulla, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, was nominated as the enquiry officer to probe the circumstances that led to the killing of the youth. The officer was asked submit his report in a month’s time.

Mohammad Shafi Zargar, a member of the Welfare Forum that is spearheading the campaign for justice to Tahir and removal of army and CRPF camp from the area, in a media interview said that the forum was extending full cooperation to the administration for conducting fair and transparent probe to bring the perpetrators to justice.
