Islamabad: Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain has reaffirmed that the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) is fully committed to fulfilling its promise to provide flats in Taxila, to the families of workers, who were martyred in the tragic twin suicide attacks near Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Wah, in August 2008.
According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain discussed this initiative with Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik and Member of the Provincial Assembly Mohsin Ayub Khan in Islamabad. He informed them that the WWF has successfully completed the construction of 504 residential flats in the Labour Complex, Taxila. Of these, 70 flats have been specifically reserved for the families of the martyrs, as a gesture of respect and recognition of their sacrifices for the nation.
The Federal Minister stated that the project has been formally handed over to the Punjab Workers Welfare Board for the allotment of flats to the legal heirs of the martyrs. However, he noted that ongoing litigation in the Civil Court, Taxila has delayed the allotment process.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain reiterated WWF’s firm resolve to ensure that, upon conclusion of legal proceedings, the flats will be allotted to the deserving families without delay. He emphasized that this initiative is a timeless tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those workers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Secretary WWF Zulfiqar Ahmed were also present during the discussions. On the occasion, Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik stated that the Ministry of Law and Justice stands ready to provide all necessary legal assistance to resolve any complexities, in full adherence to the law, in honor of the martyrs and their families.
Provincial Assembly Member Mohsin Ayub Khan assured that all required support at the Punjab Government level will be extended to facilitate the allotment of the 70 flats to the families of the martyrs in Labour Complex, Taxila.
