Islamabad: A week-long anti-Polio campaign will begin across the country today. During the campaign, 45 million children under five years of age will be administered the anti-Polio vaccine. Health workers are set to go door-to-door in both urban and remote areas to provide the vaccine and Vitamin A supplements to the children.
According to Radio Pakistan, First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has called on families and communities across Pakistan to fully cooperate with the nationwide polio vaccination campaign to ensure that every child is protected from the disease. In a statement, she highlighted the progress of previous campaigns and noted that only one case has been recorded so far this year.
Aseefa Bhutto Zardari emphasized that the threat of the disease still remains and stressed the importance of repeated vaccination in every campaign and routine immunization.
