Islamabad: The United Nations Security Council has unanimously adopted a Pakistan-sponsored resolution on "Strengthening Mechanisms for Peaceful Settlement of Disputes". The resolution was passed during a session of the Security Council, which was presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution calls for enhancing efforts by all regional and sub-regional organizations and emphasizes the effective implementation of Security Council resolutions for the peaceful settlement of disputes. It seeks to strengthen cooperation between these organizations and the United Nations.
The resolution is seen as a significant contribution to promoting international peace and security through preventive diplomacy, conflict prevention, and other measures. It encourages member states and the United Nations to explore ways to prevent disputes from escalating. This includes timely diplomatic efforts, mediation, confidence-building, and facilitating dialogue at various levels.
