Violating CNG stations sealed after SSGC raids

Karachi, February 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): SS and CGTO team in coordination with Company’s CRD, FIR Cell, along with SSGC Police raided three CNG stations in Haala Naka area in Hyderabad that were running their businesses despite the SSGC’s notification for weekly closure.

The team sealed Akber CNG Station, Mashallah CNG and United CNG stations for 48 hours and strongly warned their owners that if they will continue this illegal act, the duration of closure will be increased in weeks and months. In addition, they will be liable to stringent penalties under the Gas (Theft and Recovery) Act 2016.

SS and CGTO also conducted raids in Hyderabad and Jamshoro where some miscreants were using gas on domestic connections for commercial purposes such as power generation and bakery use. The team dismantled the connection and advised them to apply for RLNG connection for commercial usage.

Pakistan and Canada agree to boost cooperation in research and development of agricultural sector

Islamabad, February 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): Commerce Minister of Pakistan Mr. Pervaiz Malik met with the Canadian Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Mr. Lawrence MacAulay, here today, to take a holistic view of agriculture sector cooperation between the two countries, says a press release received here today from Ottawa. While appreciating Canada’s cooperation for construction of dams and irrigation system since 1960s, the Commerce Minister said that it is time for Canada to extend support in forestry, fishing, heavy agricultural machinery and other areas of agricultural cooperation.

He said that Pakistan is an emerging economy and with over 5% GDP growth rate Pakistan is a promising market for Canadian FDI in agriculture sector. He said that the bulk of Canada’s imports to Pakistan are agro-based products and both the sides should exchange expertise in research, development and innovation in the agriculture field. The Canadian Minister for agriculture appreciated the economic progress Pakistan has made during the last five years and agreed to provide fresh impetus to the cooperation in agriculture field.

He said that Canada would like to offer technical cooperation to Pakistan in all areas of agro based industry and to have robust interaction for exchange of high level delegations in order to remove the constraints and irritants related to fumigation issue. Instead of relying on ad hoc arrangements, both the sides agreed to have a permanent science based solution to the longstanding fumigation issue of agro-based Canadian exports to Pakistan, which are worth C$ 600 million annually.

Pak-Turk Relationship is unique and exemplary: Speaker National Assembly

Islamabad, February 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that friendship between the two brotherly countries is unique and exemplary. We are emotionally attached with Turkey and proud of this relationship. He was speaking to the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul in Parliament House, Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Speaker said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoy close fraternal relations and frequent contacts at the highest level have been the hallmark of these relations. He underlined the need for enhanced interaction between the parliamentarians of both the countries for further cementing the fraternal relations between the two countries. Parliamentarians of the two sides could play a meaningful role in the region as “parliamentary diplomacy” could enable the real policy makers to understand each-others points of view better, he added.

Expressing his concern over the problems confronting Muslim Ummah, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that it is the responsibility of all the parliamentarians from Muslim countries to work in close cooperation. Ambassador of Turkey Mr. Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul said that Pakistan and Turkey have unanimity of views on the political front and the cooperation between both the nations should be extended to all spheres of all mutual relations.

He said that the culture and values of people in Pakistan and Turkey have much commonalities and could be utilized for strengthening mutual relations and for the benefit of the people. He assured the Speaker that his country will do all possible for speeding up the pace of economic development and progress in Pakistan.
