Azme Naujawan plans Closing Ceremony of its Pilot Phase

Karachi, March 26, 2018 (PPI-OT): Spearheaded by 11 organization from development sector of Karachi, Azme Naujawan is a youth capacity building training project which aims to maximize the youth’s abilities for their future through capacity building, mentoring and meaningful engagement. Also to impart a complete training that train youth with the necessary skills and knowledge.

For this purpose, 7 youth centers have been established in 6 districts of Karachi where during past 6 months 1300 youth participants were under intensive training. The program specifically focuses on equipping the trained youth with the necessary skills required for making informed decisions by making them aware of how the choices they make translates into future policies.

The closing ceremony of Azme Naujawan was set to conclude overall progress of pilot phase of Azme Naujawan program. In addition, it served as a token of acknowledgment of efforts of consortium and AeN participants during 6 months long commitment to the program.

Azme Naujawan program and served as culmination to the work of the youth, amplifying it from a community level activity to a city-wide activity. During the event, Participants showcased their creative side through talent performances and had a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives on youth-related issues and develop innovative solutions to crucial questions for the future.

In addition, other activities included a short presentation on Azme Naujawan project, Azme Naujawan next phase presentation and award ceremony for youth groups. At the end of program, a qawwali performance was organized for the entertainment of guests, famous qawwal Mian Saifuddin and Mian Najamuddin sang soulful qawwalis and received accolades from the audience.

United States and Pakistan Women’s Council and American Business Council host seminar on ‘Corporate Best practices for Advancing Women’s Economic Empowerment’

Karachi, March 26, 2018 (PPI-OT): The American Business Council and U.S.-Pakistan Women’s Council members, Engro Foundation, PepsiCo and S and P Global hosted seminar today on best practices for hiring and retaining women. Acting Consul-General John Warner welcomed over 60 participants, including members of the Young Presidents’ Organization, the American Business Council, and major Pakistani financial institutions. “This seminar highlights the business case for investing in women’s success in the workplace and to discuss how women’s economic empowerment helps companies grow,” said the Acting Consul-General.

Participants discussed how hiring women helps uplift communities. They also discussed the importance of providing flex-time and day-care facilities to retain women employees, and shared programs for developing women as leaders within their organizations. The U.S.-Pakistan Women’s Council seeks to increase economic participation by women in Pakistan through entrepreneurship, employment and education. Established in 2012, the Council coordinates and initiates pilot efforts within its network in order to promote diversity and economic inclusion.

The Council currently has eight corporate members in Pakistan: Citigroup, The Coca-Cola Company, Engro, General Electric, PepsiCo, Procter and Gamble, Standard and Poor’s Global, and The Resource Group. Members implement Council commitments that empower women and strengthen Pakistan’s economy through hiring and diversity initiatives, internships, mentorships, and other activities.

We must train hard, strategize well and refine our tactics through frequent exercises and drills: Chief of the Naval Staff during Debrief of Exercise RIBAT-2018

Islamabad, March 26, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Debrief of Pakistan Navy Operational Exercise RIBAT-2018 was held at Karachi. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his remarks, Chief of the Naval Staff expressed his complete satisfaction over the combat readiness of PN fighting units and emphasized that joint operational exercises are essential to achieve desired level of training and readiness for defence of motherland.

In this regard, special emphasis was laid on joint operations by Pakistan Navy in sync with Pakistan Air Force to achieve higher level of synergy between the two Services. Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi appreciated the efforts put in by exercise participants who proved their mettle while practically manifesting war plans at sea. The Naval Chief during interaction with officers and men also appreciated their morale, level of preparedness and resolve to defend maritime frontiers of the country. “Challenges at hand necessitate a constant review of our operational plans through extensive war gaming and brain storming processes”, he said.

The Admiral emphasized that Pakistan Navy is a professionally capable and potent force, fully capable to thwart any act of aggression by our adversary. “We must train hard, strategize well and refine our tactics regularly through frequent exercises an drills”, he further asserted. Pakistan Navy’s platforms and personnel remain vigilant and combat ready to guard the sea frontiers and defending Pakistan’s maritime interests.

PN will continue to hone skills of its personnel through conduct of such joint exercises in sync with other services in future. RIBAT series of exercises are focused on validating PN war fighting concepts under evolving multi-faceted threats, ranging from conventional to sub-conventional/asymmetric warfare. Another hallmark of this exercise was validation of joint operations of PN and PAF in the Arabian Sea.
