Mayor Karachi visits Liaquatabad Super Market

Karachi, April 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said KMC markets and other buildings will be made better and convenient for citizens so that more revenue could be generated. Super Market Liaquatabad will also be restored and made beautiful by eliminating surrounding encroachments with the cooperation of market association. The pedestrian bridge and the basement area of the Super Market has been restored and repaired so that citizens especially women and children could be facilitated in the market.

Court’s directives on China Ground will be followed completely. He said this while talking to media representatives during a visit of Liaquatabad Super Market on Monday. MNA Kanwar Naveed Jamil and Director General Works Shahab Anwer, Senior Director Communication S.M Taha with other officers accompanied the mayor on this occasion. Mayor Karachi inspected the restoration and repairing works that have been carried out in and around the market and gave directive to concerned officers.

He said the pedestrian bridge connecting both tracks of Sharea Pakistan and also provided access to the Super Market was in dilapidating condition since many years and became dangerous for pedestrians using it therefore it was decided to repair and colour immediately. He said the basement area of the market had been submerged in water since long and the building was suffering due to this, we have taken notice of this situation and removed all water from the basement and cleared it.

Mayor Karachi said that the Super Market has been a major shopping center for the middle and poor class and thousands of people including women and children visit here on daily basis, the encroachments around this market made this difficult for them to access the market and pass through that is why removal of all such encroachments has become essential.

He said development works including lying of sewerage line and repairing of roads has been done in Liaquatabad however more such works needs to be done here. He said the city of Karachi required a well-equipped fire brigade to deal with any incident of fire eruption or emergency situation in dense areas and industrial zones.

Pakistan Navy conducts Bilateral Exercise with Turkish Navy at High Seas in North Arabian Sea

Karachi, April 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): Maiden Pakistan Navy-Turkish Navy Bilateral Exercise TURGUTRIES meaning “Drawn sword of Islam” conducted in North Arabian Sea has been culminated. TCG GELIBOLU a frigate from Turkish Navy and PN Ships SAIF, ASLAT, NASR, QUWWAT, AZMAT and ZARRAR including fixed and rotary wing aircraft of Pakistan Naval Aviation participated in the exercise. Fighters from PAF also took part in the Exercise.

Main objective of exercise was to enhance interoperability between two brotherly navies. Exercise TURGUTRIES 2018 covered a wide range of maritime operations encompassing Anti-Surface, Anti-Air and Anti-Submarine Warfare as well as Maneuvering and Communication exercises. Counter piracy drills were also carried out in which boarding teams demonstrated practical boarding operations on-board a suspect vessel.

Exercise proved mutually rewarding to hone professional skills of participating personnel from both navies and learn from each other’s experiences. Exercise was also witnessed by H.E. Mr Tolga Ucake, Consul General of Republic of Turkey who was hosted on-board TCG GELIBOLU and PNS ASLAT at sea. Honourable Consul General of Turkey congratulated PN and TN participants for successful conduct of first ever Pakistan Navy-Turkish Navy Bilateral Exercise TURGUTRIES 2018 and hoped that the exercise will become a regular feature between both Navies in future.

Exercise TURGUTRIES 2018 is a testimony of PN resolve to work towards regional peace and maintain close relations with all brotherly navies. Exercise was aimed at further booting and strengthening ties between Pakistan and Turkish Navies in times to come.
