Mirpur: Speakers at a seminar in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir have demanded the release of Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in Indian jails under baseless and fabricated charges. A declaration issued at the seminar appealed to the international community to take concrete steps to end India's state-sponsored terrorism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and help the Kashmiri people realize their inalienable right to self-determination.
According to Radio Pakistan, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police have attached the properties of three more Kashmiris in Kupwara district. The properties were seized under the black law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Since the illegal abrogation of IIOJK's special status in August 2019, the BJP-led Indian government has intensified its campaign to dispossess Kashmiris of their homes and lands. This policy is aimed at economically crippling the indigenous population and changing the demography of the occupied territory by facilitating the settlement of non-locals on confiscated properties.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the seizure of properties and systematic political repression of Kashmiris by the BJP-led Indian government in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement in Srinagar, APHC spokesman said such tactics have utterly failed to crush the freedom sentiments of the Kashmiri people who are determined as ever to continue their just struggle for right to self-determination.
