Islamabad: The Senate was informed today that government is taking concrete measures to empower the youth under Benazir Hunarmand Programme. Responding to a question, Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Syed Imran Ahmad Shah said BISP beneficiaries who relocate to another district may update their records by submitting a Change-of-Address form at the nearest BISP office.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Senate today passed the Transfer of Railways Amendment Bill, 2025. In addition, three new bills were laid before the House. These included The Travel Agencies (Amendment) Bill 2026, The Pakistan Tourist Guides (Amendment) Bill 2026, and The Pakistan Hotels and Restaurants (Amendment) Bill 2026. The Chair referred these bills to the respective Standing Committees for further deliberation.
The House also passed a resolution paying tribute to the late Senator Brig. (R) John Kenneth Williams, who passed away on December 23rd of the previous year. Meanwhile, the newly elected Senator Abid Sher Ali took the oath of office today, with the chair administering the oath.
Earlier in the session, the House observed one minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the G-7, Islamabad gas leak explosion. The session has been adjourned and will reconvene on Monday at 04:00 PM.
