PUC Declares Honour Killings as Un-Islamic, Form of Terrorism

Lahore: The Pakistan Ulema Council has issued a religious decree declaring honour killings as un-Islamic, anti-Shariah, illegal, and a form of terrorism. In a joint statement issued in Lahore on Sunday, PUC Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, along with Maulana Asad Zakariya Qasimi, Maulana Tahir Aqeel Awan, Maulana Muhammad Aslam Siddiqui, Maulana Ashfaq Pitafi, Mufti Umar Farooq, and others called for strict legal action against the perpetrators under terrorism laws.

According to Radio Pakistan, the council condemned a recent incident in Balochistan where a woman was reportedly killed in the name of 'honour.' The religious scholars emphasized that Islam strictly prohibits honour killings, and such acts are a grave violation of Islamic teachings.

The PUC urged the government and judiciary to take honour killings seriously and ensure that such crimes are no longer tolerated in the name of culture or tradition.
