Lahore: Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan has announced the imminent completion of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatization process, emphasizing the government's dedication to fostering foreign investment. Speaking to the media, Khan highlighted the national interest behind the decision to privatize various institutions, ensuring that these entities are not sold at undervalued prices. According to Radio Pakistan, Abdul Aleem Khan expressed that the financial burden of PIA on the people of Pakistan has become unsustainable. He assured that the privatization follows a formal, strict procedure and hinted at the possibility of other institutions undergoing similar processes. Furthermore, he noted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has shown interest in acquiring PIA, suggesting a collaborative management approach with the governments of Punjab and Sindh as a beneficial outcome. Khan also shared achievements from his tenure, citing the National Highway Authority's 50 billion rupee pr ofit and record growth over the past year. He clarified his personal financial contributions towards establishing the privatization office and covering expenses for foreign trips, without relying on official vehicles or claiming travel and daily allowances.
