President Zardari Welcomes Launch of CPEC Phase-II


Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed confidence that the new phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project will bring fresh opportunities for Pakistan’s economic progress and will further deepen the Pakistan-China partnership. He discussed this during a meeting with the Consul General of China in Karachi, Yang Yundong, who visited him on Friday.



According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari referred to the 14th meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee on CPEC, which took place in Beijing on Friday. He welcomed the launch of CPEC Phase-II, emphasizing its focus on people-centered growth, innovation, agriculture, and export development. He appreciated the hospitality and courtesies extended by the Chinese leadership during his visit to China.



The President mentioned that the Memorandums of Understanding signed during the visit would open new avenues of cooperation and directly benefit the people of Pakistan, particularly those in the agriculture and livestock sectors. He also extended his felicitations to the Government and people of China on their forthcoming National Day, wishing them continued peace, prosperity, and progress.



The Chinese Consul General congratulated President Zardari on his successful visit to China, describing it as a milestone in further deepening the long-standing ties between the two countries.
