Preliminary Flood Damage Assessment to Conclude in 10 Days: Ahsan

Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has announced that a preliminary assessment of the flood damages will be completed within ten days. He made this statement while chairing a meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee in Islamabad to review the damage assessment of the 2025 floods.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister emphasized that the damage assessment would be conducted in coordination with the provincial governments to ensure accuracy and transparency. He urged media outlets to avoid speculation regarding the extent of the flood damages, assuring that reliable data would be shared soon. Rehabilitation efforts are currently in progress in the affected areas, with both federal and provincial institutions working together on relief operations.

The meeting saw the attendance of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Chairman of NDMA, the Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change, and Chief Secretaries from the provincial governments. It was noted that provincial governments concurred that a final assessment of the flood damages can only be accurately made once the floodwaters have receded.
