PM Terms His Meeting with US President as Highly Constructive


Washington d.c.: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has termed his meeting with President Donald Trump in Washington D.C. as highly constructive and productive for strengthening bilateral relationships between Pakistan and the US.



According to Radio Pakistan, speaking to UK-based Pakistani journalists in London, he said that the US President has assured him of advancing bilateral economic cooperation. He was also appreciative of President Trump’s important role in the Pakistan-India ceasefire.



The Prime Minister stated that the defense agreement signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is not targeted against any nation. He emphasized that the agreement reflects a longstanding desire shared by both nations and highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, built on decades of sincerity and trust. He mentioned that this agreement has now formalized the enduring partnership between the two countries.



The Prime Minister further elaborated that under the agreement, an attack on one country will be considered an attack on the other. In such a scenario, both countries will respond to any aggression through mutual consultation.



Referring to Marka-e-Haq, the Prime Minister remarked that Pakistan taught a memorable lesson to India. Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan has achieved macroeconomic stability, with continuous efforts underway to drive upward growth. Despite recent floods causing significant damage, he affirmed that they remain resolute in overcoming the situation and advancing the country.



He stressed that the government is pursuing a focused approach aimed at poverty alleviation, reducing unemployment, attracting investment, and fully harnessing the country’s potential in key sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and mines and minerals. Referring to the country’s vast natural resources, he said friendly countries are ready to extend full support to Pakistan in harnessing them.



He also mentioned greater coordination between the political and military leadership, stating that they are unified. He noted that he consults with Field Marshal Asim Munir on matters of national interest, including foreign policy.



The Prime Minister reaffirmed an unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country, stating that security forces are actively combating terrorists and that their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism will always be remembered. Shehbaz Sharif concluded by noting that he raised the voices of Kashmiri and Palestinian people at the United Nations.
