PM Announces ‘Roshan Maeeshat Power Package’

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the “Roshan Maeeshat Power Package” aimed at enhancing the development of the country’s industry and agriculture sectors.

According to Radio Pakistan, the package was unveiled during a meeting with a delegation of business community members and experts from the industrial and agricultural sectors in Islamabad. Under this package, industries and farmers will benefit from additional electricity at discounted rates over a three-year period from November 2025 to October 2028.

The Prime Minister stated that the current electricity prices for industrial units, set at 34 rupees per unit, and for agriculture, at 38 rupees per unit, will be significantly reduced. The new rates will offer additional electricity at 22.98 rupees per unit throughout the year, without imposing any burden on domestic consumers or other sectors.

Shehbaz Sharif commended Minister for Power Sardar Awais Leghari and his team for their efforts in preparing the package. He highlighted the importance of developing the industry and agriculture sectors as crucial for the country’s economic growth and job creation. The government is committed to enhancing competitiveness and easing business operations in these sectors.

The Prime Minister recalled that the package announced last year led to the use of 410 gigawatts of additional electricity in the industrial and agricultural sectors, resulting in increased production, exports, and employment. He praised the government’s economic team for their hard work in achieving economic stability and expressed confidence that the development of these fields will help the country eliminate debt.

He also stressed that economic indicators have improved and emphasized that the nation would achieve economic self-sufficiency through continued efforts.
