Washington D.C.: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has announced that Pakistan’s burgeoning IT sector, propelled by a tech-savvy youth population, is forging a significant complementarity with the United States. In his remarks to business leaders, diplomats, and thought leaders at the World Trade Center in Washington D.C., he emphasized the economic opportunities available in Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Ambassador pointed out the success of over eighty U.S. multinational companies operating in Pakistan over several decades as evidence of the country’s profitability and potential as a regional trade hub. Discussions are underway with the US to enhance agricultural trade ties.
He underscored the immense potential for collaboration in the technology sector, driven by Pakistan’s youthful demographic, with 65% of the population under 30. Pakistan offers a 70% cost advantage in IT services compared to the US and a 20-30% advantage over global competitors.
The Ambassador also highlighted the significant role of the approximately one million Pakistani-American diaspora in reinforcing bilateral ties and enhancing people-to-people connections. Reflecting on recent tensions between Pakistan and India, he reiterated that Pakistan values peace and does not seek conflict, emphasizing the country’s commitment to peace.
