Doha: A high-level delegation from Pakistan, led by the Minister of Defence Khawja Muhammad Asif, is set to hold discussions with representatives of the Afghan Taliban in Doha today. The talks are aimed at addressing pressing security issues between the two neighboring countries.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions will focus primarily on implementing immediate measures to curb cross-border terrorism against Pakistan originating from Afghanistan. The goal is to restore peace and stability along the Pak-Afghan border, a region that has seen persistent tensions.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized that Pakistan does not seek escalation and urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to honor their commitments to the international community. He called for verifiable action against terrorist entities to address Pakistan’s security concerns.
The Spokesperson also expressed appreciation for Qatar’s mediation efforts and hoped that these discussions would contribute to peace and stability in the region.
