Islamabad: Pakistan and Canada have agreed to expedite the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. This development was the outcome of a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions between the two leaders covered various facets of Pakistan-Canada relations, including trade, security cooperation, and the enhancement of bilateral engagement. Both sides also deliberated on measures to curb illegal immigration, human trafficking, and cybercrime, while reviewing proposals for training and exchange programs for law enforcement officers.

The meeting further touched upon regional developments, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing shared challenges. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized Pakistan's keenness to bolster relations with Canada across all sectors, noting the significant contribution of the Pakistani community in Canada to the growth of both nations.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry expressed optimism that the proposed agreement would serve to further solidify bilateral relations. Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand reiterated her country's commitment to fostering strong ties with Pakistan and underscored the importance of establishing a framework to augment cooperation between the two countries.
