Islamabad: Pakistan has renewed its pledge to the pursuit of a just and stable global order where peace is preserved, and all peoples share benefits of freedom, security, and prosperity.
According to Radio Pakistan, in a message on the occasion of United Nations Day, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the world body, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, stated that Pakistan will work cooperatively with all member states at the UN towards achieving these ends. He emphasized that Pakistan joins all Member States in celebrating the eighty years of the United Nations’ tireless service to the cause of multilateralism and the collective progress of mankind.
The Ambassador highlighted the UN’s role in inspiring hope, nurturing peace, advancing human rights, and guiding socio-economic progress. He noted that this occasion attests to the organization’s endurance. However, he pointed out that developing nations are bearing a disproportionate brunt of the challenges and crises of our time, including environmental degradation and economic fragility. These issues, coupled with widening inequalities, faltering development, and the rise of ungoverned technologies, demand renewed multilateral consensus grounded in equity and shared responsibility.
Ambassador Ahmed reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to standing in principled solidarity with all peoples who have been denied their inalienable right to self-determination, particularly highlighting the struggles of the peoples of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which embody the unfinished promise of the UN Charter.
