Pakistan Reaffirms Unwavering Commitment to Security of Its People

Islamabad: Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of its people. This was stated by Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shafqat Ali Khan at his weekly media briefing in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies are conducting targeted operations in border regions to protect citizens from terrorist threats, particularly from groups like Fitna-al-Khwarij and the TTP. These operations are carefully planned based on credible and actionable intelligence.

Shafqat Ali Khan further stated that Pakistan respects Afghanistan’s sovereignty and remains committed to fostering dialogue and cooperation with its neighbor to tackle the shared challenge of terrorism. He highlighted that Pakistan has consistently prioritized diplomacy even amid persistent threats originating from terrorist hideouts and sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson urged Afghan authorities to ensure that their territory is not used for launching terrorist activities against Pakistan. He emphasized that groups like the TTP pose a common threat to regional peace and stability, necessitating collective action to counter their influence. Pakistan remains committed to resolving challenges through dialogue and constructive engagements.

He reiterated that both nations share a mutual interest in combating terrorism and restoring stability. Pakistan believes that Afghanistan should reclaim its sovereignty and security, and robust efforts are needed to combat terrorist groups like the TTP.

Shafqat Ali Khan also mentioned that Pakistan’s Special Representative to Afghanistan, Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq, represented the country in the Quadripartite Group meeting of Pakistan, China, Iran, and Russia in Moscow, and later in the Moscow format meeting. The Spokesperson added that Ambassador Sadiq held significant bilateral meetings with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and other senior diplomats from regional countries.
