Dubai: Pakistan and the Philippines have expressed interest in learning from each other's social security and migrant worker systems. The understanding came during a meeting between Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Secretary of the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers, Hans Leo J. Cacdac in Dubai.
According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted the role of Pakistan's vocational training commission and key institutions under the Ministry, including the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and the Bureau of Emigration. The discussion aimed to explore collaborative efforts in enhancing the support systems for migrant workers from both countries.
The Philippines provided an overview of its pension and social security system, emphasizing its pre-departure training for migrant workers. This exchange of information was part of the countries' efforts to improve the welfare and integration of their respective overseas workers.
Both sides have agreed to maintain close engagement and continue sharing information on the registration, training, and reintegration of migrant workers, marking a step forward in bilateral cooperation on this important issue.
