Pakistan Emphasizes Diplomacy for Iran Nuclear Issue

Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated that the Iran nuclear issue should be addressed through peaceful means. The remarks were made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, while speaking on the Security Council Vote on the Draft Resolution Concerning the Panel of Experts of the 1737 Committee on Iran.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ambassador stated that Pakistan continues to believe that diplomacy and dialogue remain the guiding principles for resolving outstanding issues concerning the Iran nuclear program. He emphasized that Pakistan has consistently advocated for the primacy of diplomatic engagement and the necessity of avoiding confrontation and conflict.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad urged all parties to implement the commitments agreed upon in the Islamabad MoU, to return to the negotiating table, and to allow diplomacy to deliver for the sake of regional and international peace and security.
