Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed dissatisfaction over recent remarks made by the Spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, describing them as unfortunate and a deliberate misrepresentation of the situation concerning recent developments in Pakistan-Afghanistan relations. This was stated by Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while responding to a question during his weekly media briefing in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized that the Indian negative role in destabilizing the entire region is well-documented. He asserted that Pakistan’s actions are guided solely by its own security considerations and are undertaken in self-defense against unprovoked and destabilizing activities along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Ambassador Khan further highlighted that such remarks from India are seemingly aimed at undermining efforts to restore peace and normalcy. He criticized India’s position to cast aspersions on others, pointing out India’s record of involvement in acts of terrorism and extra-territorial assassinations in Pakistan and beyond.
In response to another query, Shafqat Ali Khan mentioned that diplomatic interactions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are ongoing and progressing rapidly. He reiterated Pakistan’s desire for a peaceful, stable, friendly, inclusive, and prosperous Afghanistan.
Additionally, Ambassador Khan shared news of Pakistan’s election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term, having received an overwhelming majority of 178 votes. This marks Pakistan’s sixth election to the Council since its inception in 2006, reflecting the global community’s confidence in Pakistan’s commitment to human rights and consensus building. He assured that Pakistan will continue to highlight human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
