Abu dhabi: Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, has expressed Pakistan's commitment to the Paris Agreement, emphasizing a future focused on low emissions and climate resilience. Addressing the 16th International Renewable Energy Agency Assembly, Alam highlighted Pakistan's emergence as a rapidly growing market for solar energy, with projections of 12 GW off-grid and over 6 GW net-metered solar capacity by the end of 2025.
According to Radio Pakistan, Alam reaffirmed Pakistan's ambitious target to achieve 60% renewable energy in its power mix by 2030. She called on the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and its member states to boost concessional finance for developing countries and enhance regional cooperation to ensure shared energy security.
