Istanbul: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at Vahdettin Palace in Istanbul today. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with other ministers and senior officials from both sides.
According to Radio Pakistan, during their meeting, the two leaders expressed their shared resolve to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Trkiye. The discussions highlighted areas such as trade and investment, energy cooperation, offshore and onshore petroleum exploration, mines and minerals, and information technology. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to achieving the mutually agreed target of 5 billion dollars in bilateral trade.
In addition to economic cooperation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan exchanged views on important regional and global developments. President Erdogan acknowledged Pakistan's mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, which culminated in the signing of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for the Turkish President's strong support for Pakistan's peace initiatives.
The meeting underscored the importance of close diplomatic coordination between the two countries during the peace process and emphasized sustained efforts to ensure enduring peace in the region. Both leaders reiterated their unwavering support for each other's core national issues.
Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to President Erdogan to visit Pakistan, further solidifying the bilateral relations between the two nations.
