Pakistan and Romania Agree to Address Aerial Defence Challenges


Bucharest: Pakistan and Romania have agreed to establish robust institutional mechanisms to tackle shared aerial defence challenges. This agreement was reached in a meeting between Chief of the Air Staff Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff Lieutenant General Leonard-Gabriel Baraboi in Romania. The discussions focused on enhancing operational cooperation through joint air exercises, exchange programs, and training for air and ground crew.



According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting also involved exchanging views on regional security dynamics and reaffirming the importance of bilateral cooperation in maintaining both global and regional stability. The leaders discussed expanding Air Force-to-Air Force collaboration and explored the prospects of forming defence-industrial partnerships in advanced aerospace technologies.



The Romanian Air Chief commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force, particularly its recent achievements against Indian aggression. He also recognized the progress made by PAF under the leadership of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. The meeting took place during the official visit of the Pakistani Air Chief to Romania, which aimed at strengthening bilateral defence ties and exploring further cooperation avenues between the two Air Forces.



This visit marks a significant milestone in military relations between Pakistan and Romania, emphasizing both nations’ commitment to peace, development, and military collaboration in a rapidly evolving security environment. Upon his arrival at the Romanian Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu was honored with a Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Romanian Air Force.
