Pakistan and Iran Commit to Bolstering Trade and Energy Cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to enhance and diversify bilateral trade and cooperation in energy, transport connectivity, education, and people-to-people exchanges. This consensus was reached during the 13th Round of Pak-Iran Bilateral Political Consultations held in Islamabad. Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch represented Pakistan, while Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi led the Iranian delegation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the two sides engaged in comprehensive discussions covering the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and reviewed the status of implementing decisions from the last Bilateral Political Consultations. The discussions also included exchanging views on significant regional and global developments.

Both countries emphasized the importance of regular meetings of various institutional mechanisms, such as the Joint Economic Commission and Joint Trade Committee, to foster closer cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration at multilateral forums, including the UN, OIC, and ECO, and to strengthen dialogue on global and regional issues of common concern.

The consultations highlighted the close, brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, deeply rooted in shared history, culture, and faith. It was agreed that the next round of Bilateral Political Consultations would be held in Tehran on mutually convenient dates.
