Pakistan and Egypt Collaborate to Enhance Agricultural Sector

Islamabad: Pakistan and Egypt have reached an agreement to bolster cooperation in the agricultural sector. Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has proposed increased collaboration between the agricultural research institutions of the two countries. This proposal came during a meeting with the Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, held in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized the importance of Egypt's support and technical expertise in boosting Pakistan's cotton yield and improving its quality. He highlighted Egypt's proficiency in cotton varieties, quality seed, crop management, and value addition, noting that these areas could greatly benefit Pakistan's cotton sector.

The minister further stressed the need for cooperation in various areas such as water-efficient irrigation, seed development, biotechnology, climate-smart agriculture, mechanization, livestock, horticulture, and agricultural research. He expressed Pakistan's eagerness to learn from Egypt's practical experience and technological advancements in these fields.

Ambassador Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan conveyed Egypt's willingness to enhance agricultural cooperation with Pakistan. He assured that Egyptian institutions would be encouraged to explore and engage in areas of mutual interest to strengthen the bilateral agricultural partnership.
