London: Pakistan and Bangladesh have reached an understanding to enhance maritime cooperation, aiming for regional stability, economic growth, and shared prosperity. This agreement emerged from a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, and Brigadier General retired Dr. M. Sakhawat Hussain, Adviser for Shipping of Bangladesh, held in London.

According to Radio Pakistan, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry suggested establishing a formal cooperation framework between the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation and the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. This initiative aims to deepen maritime collaboration between the two nations. During the meeting, Chaudhry also sought Bangladesh’s support for Pakistan in the International Maritime Organization Category C elections, assuring reciprocal support from Islamabad.

Furthermore, Chaudhry reiterated Pakistan’s previous offer to provide Karachi Port Trust facilities for Bangladeshi cargo. He highlighted that enhanced port-to-port collaboration could alleviate logistics challenges, reduce regional bottlenecks, and open new avenues for commercial integration across South Asia.
