Pakistan Affirms Support for Saudi Arabia’s Security at Strategic Meeting

Riyadh:Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, attended an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting endorsed the nomination of retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary-General of the Makkah Alliance for Defence. It also strongly condemned the attempted targeting of the Holy Cities of Makkah and Medina, as well as ongoing attacks against Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan, along with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, exchanged views on recent regional developments and expressed a commitment to work closely for regional peace and stability. Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, pledging full support for the Kingdom's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security. Additionally, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to efforts for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
