Islamabad: The National Emergencies Operation Center of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall across the country.
According to Radio Pakistan, over the next 12 to 24 hours, most parts of the country are expected to experience additional rainfall accompanied by strong winds and storms. There is a risk of further flooding in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Mardan.
Snowfall is also expected during this period in the upper and hilly regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The NDMA warned that strong winds, lightning, and hail could damage weak structures, uproot trees, destroy standing crops, and affect power lines across the country.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, drive with caution, and closely follow weather advisories. Tourists and travelers planning to visit northern areas are urged to check weather and road conditions before embarking on their journeys. The public can access timely updates through NDMA's official app, "Pak NDMA Disaster Alert."
NDMA has also directed all provincial and district agencies to remain vigilant and prepared to respond to possible adverse weather conditions.
