Peshawar: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is extending full support to the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority as directed by the Prime Minister. An NDMA team is stationed in Peshawar to assist and oversee ongoing relief operations.
According to Radio Pakistan, NDMA, along with the armed forces and welfare organizations, has dispatched essential relief supplies to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These supplies include ambulances, generators, blankets, tents, dewatering pumps, rations, and powdered milk. The NDMA is conducting continuous monitoring of these operations and coordinating with relevant institutions to ensure an effective emergency response.
Recent statistics indicate that 328 people have died and 143 have been injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to heavy rains, floods, landslides, and lightning strikes. The nationwide death toll from rain-related incidents has reached 344. Authorities warn that with further rains, the risk of additional landslides remains significant.
The NDMA has advised citizens to remain vigilant, take necessary precautions during heavy rain and flooding, and avoid non-essential travel to vulnerable areas. Tourists, in particular, have been advised to avoid visiting northern regions for the next five to six days for their own safety.
