NA Extends Felicitations to China on 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Islamabad: The National Assembly today passed a resolution extending its warmest felicitations to the government and people of China on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The resolution, moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, expressed confidence that this bond of friendship shall continue to flourish with ever greater vigor in the decades to come.

According to Radio Pakistan, the house reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China, pledging the continued support of the Pakistani legislature for the deepening and broadening of bilateral relations across all spheres of cooperation. Expressing strong support for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project, the house affirmed its legislative commitment to facilitating the full and timely realization of CPEC projects for the benefit of the people of Pakistan.

The resolution reiterated Pakistan's commitment to strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and legislative cooperation between the National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China, describing it as an indispensable pillar of the broader bilateral relationship. The house expressed its resolve that the next seventy-five years shall witness an even stronger, more dynamic, and mutually beneficial relationship between Pakistan and China, grounded in the shared aspirations of the two peoples for peace, development, and prosperity.

Meanwhile, a Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Cai Dafeng witnessed the proceedings of the National Assembly. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation amidst the thumping of desks by the treasury and opposition benches. The Speaker highlighted that the visit of the Chinese parliamentary delegation coincided with the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, describing Cai Dafeng as a renowned educationist known for his contributions in education and public service.

In his remarks, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar emphasized that the friendship with China has stood as an example to the world, built on trust, steadfast support, and full respect for each other's sovereignty and core interests. He noted that this relationship has been tested by time and circumstances and has never wavered. The Law Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening this partnership.

Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai also commented, stating that both Pakistan and China are excellent friends, describing this relationship as higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the seas. He acknowledged the support extended by China to Pakistan and recognized China's leadership role in the world. Syed Naveed Qamar remarked that Pakistan-China relations had grown stronger over decades due to consistent efforts of successive governments and leadership on both sides.

Later, the National Assembly was informed that Karachi's K-IV water project will be completed by the end of this year. Responding to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Syed Amin-ul-Haq and others, Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Mueen Wattoo highlighted the significance of the project for the supply of water in Karachi, mentioning that 94.67 billion rupees have so far been spent on this project. The House will now meet on Friday at eleven am.
