More Non-Permanent Seats, Not New Permanent Ones, Can Enhance UNSC Effectiveness: Munir.

New York: Pakistan has reaffirmed its demand for adding more non-permanent seats to make the Security Council more effective, representative, and accountable. This stance was articulated by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, during discussions with delegates in New York.

According to Radio Pakistan, Munir Akram emphasized that there is no justification for creating new centers of privilege within the United Nations. He highlighted that no states could justifiably claim such unequal status under the UN Charter, reinforcing Pakistan’s position against the creation of new permanent seats on the Security Council.
