Islamabad: More monsoon rains with wind-thundershower have been predicted across the country from tomorrow (Monday). According to the Met Office, a westerly wave is also expected to approach on Tuesday.
According to Radio Pakistan, heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs and streams across the country. Heavy falls may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of major cities. Landslides and mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir during the forecast period.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority has issued a flood warning for the Chenab and Jhelum rivers and their adjoining tributaries, cautioning the public and authorities of possible low to medium-level flooding from tomorrow to the 31st of this month. PDMA has warned of an unusual rise in water levels in both rivers, urging authorities to take preemptive measures. Emergency control room staff has been directed to remain on high alert, while Rescue 1122's disaster response teams have also been instructed to prepare for rapid deployment.
Temperature of major cities recorded this morning includes Islamabad at twenty-eight degree centigrade, Lahore twenty-nine, Karachi and Peshawar thirty, Quetta, Gilgit, and Muzaffarabad twenty-four, and Murree fifteen degree centigrade. According to the weather forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy weather with chances of rain and wind with thundershower is expected in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramula. Temperature recorded this morning in these areas shows Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramula at nineteen degree centigrade, Jammu twenty-eight, Leh fourteen, Anantnag and Shopian twenty degree centigrade.
