Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi today visited the proposed site for the construction of a new international-standard convention centre in Islamabad. The new convention centre is being constructed in the federal capital on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the site visit near Murree Road-Bhara Kahu Bypass, the Interior Minister reviewed the arrangements and issued immediate orders for the removal of all illegal encroachments from the location. He directed the authorities to take indiscriminate legal action against encroachers and ordered the demolition of all illegal constructions. He made it clear that no concession or compensation would be given to those occupying the land unlawfully.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that providing international-standard facilities in Islamabad is the government's firm commitment. He added that the completion of the convention centre will facilitate the hosting of major international events in Pakistan, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and other global conferences.
