One of the most exciting matches of the World Cup 2023 occurred as Pakistan suffered a heartbreaking loss to Afghanistan on Monday in Chennai, leaving former cricketers to express their thoughts with anger and disappointment
Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez also expressed his concern, but his concern was about Iftikhar Ahmed, suggesting that he should play higher up the order.
During a local sports show, Mohammad Hafeez highlighted Iftikhar Ahmed’s List A career.
Hafeez said, “Iftikhar Ahmed has an average of 50 in List A. He’s a proper top-order batter who can score centuries, but I’m surprised on team management of Pakistan made him a player of only a few balls.”
He added, “Iftikhar Ahmed is a well-polished player, but unfortunately, we use him as a tailender.”
It should be noted that Iftikhar played a crucial innings, scoring 40 runs against Afghanistan, including four massive sixes. This performance helped Pakistan reach a competitive total of 282-7.
Furthermore, after skipper Babar Azam got out, the 73-run partnership between Ifitkhar and Shadab was crucial in Pakistan’s innings.
After being set a target of 283 runs, the Green Shirts were unable to defend this total, resulting in a heartbreaking loss for Pakistani fans and disappointment for some former Pakistani cricketers.
