Lahore: Renowned writer Sofia Baidar has emphasized the significance of literary festivals like the Faiz Festival in shaping a constructive society. Speaking to Radio Pakistan's correspondent, Qasim Bukhari, during the Faiz Festival, she said that such events serve as a tribute to the literary legacy of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, who instilled values of integrity in society.According to Radio Pakistan, she underscored the transformative impact of literary festivals, stating that they help channel societal negativity into positivity. Sofia Baidar stressed that the youth are the nation's most valuable asset and that it is crucial to pass on knowledge and artistic expression to them through such platforms. She expressed her delight at the enthusiastic participation of young people in the festival, noting that their engagement reflects a growing passion for literature and books.Dismissing concerns about the decline of book reading and publishing, she pointed out that e-books are now widely consumed and that ongoing boo k fairs across the country reaffirm the resilience of reading culture. Sofia Baidar remarked that a constructive society fosters dialogue and engagement rather than resorting to disruptive protests.
