The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad organized an international conference, titled 'Celebrating Pakistan's Ancient Archaeological and Civilizational Heritage' in Islamabad today.Addressing the conference, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed highlighted that Pakistan is home to six UNESCO World Heritage sites, and there is immense potential to add more to this list.To capitalize on Pakistan's rich historical and cultural heritage, he emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy based on robust marketing, media initiatives and implementing a visa-on-arrival policy.He recommended establishing international airport on significant sites to enhance accessibility and visibility in global markets to promote tourism.Mushahid Hussain Syed said promoting adventure tourism can leverage Pakistan's diverse landscapes and outdoor activities.In his welcome remarks, Director General Institute of Strategic Studies, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood said, it is important to mount a comprehensive, coherent, and coordinat ed national effort to preserve and promote Pakistan's archaeological and civilizational heritage.He termed partnerships with international experts and institutions, such as UNESCO, as vital for this purpose.Director China Pakistan Study Centre at the Institute, Dr. Talat Shabbir highlighted iconic archaeological sites like Mohenjo-Daro and Taxila as symbols of Pakistan's national identity and cultural diversity.Secretary National Heritage and Cultural Division, Hassan Nasir Jamy called for leveraging Pakistan's heritage to boost cultural diplomacy, tourism, and economic growth.Source: Radio Pakistan
