Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar visited the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad to bid farewell to Outgoing Ambassador Dr Jemal Beker Abdula. He paid tribute to Dr Jemal Beker Abdula for his outstanding diplomatic services and appreciated his remarkable role and contributions in strengthening and elevating the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
According to Radio Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar acknowledged the outgoing ambassador for further solidifying bonds of friendship between the people of Pakistan and Ethiopia. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jemal Beker Abdula said Ethiopia attaches great importance to its diplomatic relations with Pakistan, which are playing an effective role at the international level. He expressed gratitude for the full support extended by the Government and the people of Pakistan during his tenure in promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
He noted that both countries have enhanced close cooperation in various sectors, including peace and security, environmental sustainability, aviation, trade, investment, tourism, and culture. The Ethiopian Ambassador said the two sides take pride in deepening bilateral ties in areas such as connectivity, economic diplomacy, and environmental sustainability. He highlighted that Ethiopian Airlines is playing a key role in promoting Pakistan’s “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies.
Dr Jemal Beker Abdula added that as part of this policy, the Fifth Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition will be held next week in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The Minister for Information commended the development and transformation taking place in Ethiopia under the leadership of its Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali. He described Dr Jemal Beker Abdula as a true friend of Pakistan who built bridges of closeness and friendship between the two nations.
Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan Television will produce a special documentary program highlighting the diplomatic services of the Ethiopian Ambassador. He said the documentary will be telecast in recognition of the Ambassador’s outstanding efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
