Islamabad: Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, emphasized the government's dedication to pursuing structural reforms, fostering export-led growth, and reinforcing institutional frameworks during a meeting with the US Charg© d'Affaires to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, held in Islamabad. The discussions focused on enhancing Pakistan-US economic relations and exploring avenues for bolstering bilateral economic cooperation.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister briefed Baker on his recent visit to Washington, where he engaged with senior US economic institutions. During these meetings, he underscored the potential for strengthening financial cooperation, as well as investment and financing for commercially viable projects in Pakistan. He also provided updates on the progress of discussions with the US Trade Representative concerning the Pakistan-US reciprocal trade framework, which aims to enhance market access, export opportunities, and bilateral trade.
Senator Aurangzeb also highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to improve the business climate, attract private-sector investment, bolster foreign exchange reserves, and promote export-led growth. The dialogue between the two parties extended to investment opportunities in sectors such as ports and logistics, energy, telecommunications, digital technology, and artificial intelligence.
Natalie Baker expressed appreciation for Pakistan's efforts to maintain economic stability amidst regional challenges and escalating energy prices. She reaffirmed the US's support for Pakistan's economic reform agenda and emphasized the importance of increased participation by US companies in key sectors.
