Govt Announces New 500-Kilometer Railway Track from Karachi to Rohri

Islamabad: Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced that the government is taking revolutionary steps to further improve Pakistan Railways. Addressing a news conference, he detailed plans for the construction of a new 500-kilometer railway track from Karachi to Rohri, a project expected to be completed within the next two and a half years at an estimated cost of two billion dollars.

According to Radio Pakistan, Abbasi also revealed plans to upgrade the over 800-kilometer long railway track from Naukundi to Rohri. He emphasized that despite conspiracies, the Jaffar Express will continue to operate, attributing this success to the dedication of the drivers, railway police, and other staff members who perform their duties courageously.

Abbasi announced additional initiatives including the outsourcing of four schools under Pakistan Railways to provide affordable education to the children of railway employees. The Ministry is also in the process of outsourcing eight hospitals to ensure free medical facilities for employees, thereby enhancing the overall welfare of railway staff.

The Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to maintaining transparency across all railway projects. He also took the opportunity to commend the security forces for their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, notably mentioning their role in defeating India in what he referred to as the “Marka e Haq.”
