Government Initiates Digitalization for E-Parliament, NA Informed


Islamabad: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced the initiation of a digitalization process to establish an e-Parliament, aimed at modernizing the legislative system. Speaking at the beginning of the National Assembly session, he explained that the new system will enable members to receive the Order of the Day, a copy of the Constitution, the Rules of Business, and other legislative documents in digital form instead of paper.



According to Radio Pakistan, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf expressed concern over the slow pace of rehabilitation and reconstruction in Balakot, more than two decades after the 2005 earthquake. He highlighted that 216 schools in the earthquake-affected areas remain incomplete, and residents of Balakot City continue to live in temporary settlements despite the release of reconstruction funds to the provincial government.



Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary informed the National Assembly that the government is taking steps to attract investment in the country. During the question hour, he reported a 27.2 percent increase in foreign direct investment, reaching 4026.6 million dollars in the last fiscal year, along with a record increase in remittances in recent months. He also mentioned the establishment of a regulatory framework to oversee cryptocurrency, including the Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority and Pakistan Crypto Council.



Minister of State for Planning Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani updated the house on projects aimed at alleviating poverty and uplifting backward districts. He mentioned a project worth forty billion rupees, targeting the upliftment of the twenty poorest districts in the country.



Parliamentary Secretary for Privatization Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui provided an update on the privatization of various entities. She informed the House that the pre-bidding process for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been completed, with bidding expected by the end of November. Bids have been received for First Woman Bank, with the sale and purchase agreement scheduled for the 17th of this month. The agreement for the House Building Finance Corporation is expected to be finalized before December.



The National Assembly session has now been prorogued.
